Galena has plenty of ghost tours, but only one Pirate Tour! Yes, we do talk about ghosts, the best Galena ghosts actually! However, thete is so much more to Galena! We have real Caribbean pirates that helped build our town, river pirate attrocities, tones of brothels and prostitutes, scary cryptids and of course amazing Indigenous history and legends that need to be heard! We mix real, and really weird dark history, real local pirate history and lore with some very creepy local legends and sightings as well as the towns strangest historical characters and yes, Galena's best and scariest ghosts and monsters plus Indigenous facts that will make your jaw drop! And we have FUN! No "over serious" dour, monotonous seriousness and gloom. So while the other tours get stuck in "...and over here we have occasional sightings and we think it's from this historical event" we offer the actual bizarre and amazing history of the town, real stories of the larger than life people who helped make it and literal creatures that created the backdrop for these events plus the ghosts themselves in both a fun and very scary way! Our ghost stories are from real, recent experiences and the areas we go to have palpable energies! You will be sharing our weird historical facts and strange legends long after the tour...we hear it all the time! Our tour is also funny and entertaining. We don't take ourselves too seriously and want everyone to have fun while getting absolutely creeped out! And yes, you can dress up as a pirate!
Galena is Older & Charmingly Creepier Than You Think
Galena, Illinois as a town was incorporated as "Galena" in 1826, but was known as "The Point" and "January's Point" between 1700 and 1826. Yes, you read that right, the year 1700! In fact, it's actually much older! Our town has a rich and often dark history filled with amazing Indigenous life, strange legendary creatures, actual pirates, ladies of the night (you know what I mean) , brothels, gambling and LOTS of GHOSTS. We are known as the most haunted town in Illinois! That's why even with all the amazing and weird history of the town, we are also going to be talking about ghosts all this haunted tour!

It's Galena's Goonies Adventure for Grownups who want to be Kids for a night...and young adults who can handle talk about lewd behavior!
Warning: While we will talk about amazing history, we're going to talk about seriously scary historically documented material as well as gore, prostitution and other lewd and tawdry subjects. You can even dress up as a pirate if you want!
Our haunted, &strange history tour is pretty easy walking experience!
Our haunted tour itself is a mellow walk, is approx. 1.5 hours and includes approx. 1.5 actual staircase climbs up, and 1 staircases down. If you can make a few laps around the mall you should be fine. We do encourage you to wear comfy shoes, bring a light jacket if it feels chilly, bring an umbrella if it looks like a light rain and some money if you want a drink before we leave and or a drink after! We meet at either 303 S. Main's door or just a few feet down on the same side of the street at the Pirate Tour Window outside the Eagles where you can grab a spirit and use the bathroom before we leave on our walking voyage!
Dead Billy's Family Helped Found the United States
Dead Billy is Galena's Official Pirate! He's played by Galena's Psychic Medium who's day job is connecting loved ones with over 700 5 Star Reveiws. He uses his expertise, experiences as well as Galena's documented sightings as well as the documented history and legends of our town. While helping people connected to the deceased has been his primary job for years, he also has experience from his younger days as a professional performer for over 1.5 million audience members (you read that right) in thouseands of schools, libraries as well as the US Army amazing presentations as well as his experience in communications while working for the church by belonging to a religious order for over a decade. While he's always done his first job, life's purpose and passion of cconnecting souls for the first 25 years part time, he now does it full time in town for over a decade while using his past epxerience and training on a tour he created out of sheer love for his town of Galena and it's residents during his cancer recovery in 2024/25. His family's history has kept him interested expecially in 18th century history, the basis of the tour, as his 4x great uncle is Dr. Hugh Williamson who signed the Constitution and his 4x Great Grandfather John was an actual British Naval officer turned pirate who helped us win the Revolutionary War and who later purchased an entire county with Spanish gold and silver with family ties to Galena and the early beginnings of Illinois! His grandmother was Illinois Meskwaki and her indigenous stories and history have also played a large part in the tour's creation and content. Dead Billy is an actual famliy moniker used by his pirate ancestor from a time where one did not use their real name to avoid trouble once on land and especially when wanting to settle down and reclaim wealth and land.
